Vol 24: The Comeback Kids

Welcome back, welcome back, WELCOME BACK!!!! Hello everyone and welcome back to Femme Thee Comics! Its been a while and I've missed every second of coming to you each week with a new post, but I had to rethink a lot of things about this platform and what I wanted it to be, and let me tell you......it was worth the wait. As you can tell, there has been some changes to the site and we have rebranded! A new look to match where we are going. So much more is in store and I cant wait to bring you all along for the ride! Call it a comeback.

Having this be my redemption post, since I left you guys once again, let's talk about the other girlies who also had a major comeback, we're talking anti-heroes.

Anti-heroes are some of my favorite characters because typically their personality reflects something relatable to any person and not just seeing a typical hero who has this over positive take and can only see one way or a villain who is just a menace and see things the opposite way only. They are somewhere in the middle. However, there are some characters who are true villains that writers and directors forcibly change to be anti-heroes, but I'm not going to get into that again, but to see a full circle moment, a arch of a anti-hero play out, is truly something.

Harley Quinn, from DC Comics, is probably the most recognized anti-hero and her story is one hell of a comeback. Dr. Harleen Quinzel was a psychiatrist at Gotham City's Arkham Asylum and ended up falling in love with the Joker, the notorious villain in Gotham. Their relationship was the extreme definition of toxic. She was his Bonnie to his Clyde and the two did everything together, until one day Harley had enough of the mistreatment she faced at his hands and she soon went on to do her own thing. Of course she didn't just leave her old ways behind just like that, she forged a new path for her self, a path where she demanded respect and did things her own way. She is one of the founders of the villainous Gotham City Sirens, accompanied by Poison Ivy and Catwoman (just to name a couple), joined the Birds of Prey for a hot second to do some good, partner up with Batman where she solidified her anti hero era, and then went solo with her new sidekick Cassandra Cain for a bit.

The path she went on, was a path that uncovered who she really was to herself. She realized she wasn't all bad and that some of the things she thought was apart of her was from her toxic relationship with the Joker and not truly her, she realized she had some good in her and decide to discover that part of herself. She found her balance. Now she may still end up on the "wrong side" of things but hey, that's what makes her Harley.

I feel like we can all relate to going on a path and finding our true selves, and also realizing that being who we are and believing in what we do can have us being on an opposing team, but that's just who we are, who you are, an anti hero.
